Through the Window

Eat more cake -- always.

Things are starting to take shape!

I always love seeing which photos they pick for the articles.
These weren't selected.

Inside the Corner Bakery on a Sunnier Day

The natural light was so beautiful the day I was taking photos for Miniature Collector.
After several winter days filled with snow and dark skies,
it was nice to have some sun.

This project is probably my favorite to date.

Little labels on the canisters.
{I'm also thinking of covering the ones on the bottom shelf in cute paper.}

Propped up on a chair --
because the natural light was great, but it is sooooo cold
outside on the day I took this photo.

This little bakery is making me feel the need to be domestic today!

Cheers to domesticity!

Bakery Facade Brick

I had so much fun with the red bricks,
I decided to add brick to the front of the bakery as well.
Soon I'll be able to show you around inside,
but for now here is a little look at one of the bay windows.

This shoppe was inspired by a couple of places that I saw in London in May of 2016.
I loved the color of Fortnum & Mason's ground level exterior --
the contrast with the red bricks on the upper levels was gorgeous.
Since my store is one level, I made the side walls red --
my attempt to duplicate the colors of Fortnum & Mason.

Painted bricks in light shades {another detail in London that I LOVED}
inspired the white bricks under the bay windows.

Now for the precariously perched cake --
What is happening?

So funny that sometimes I'm taking pictures and I have no idea
what I'm taking pictures of --
who knew this cake was about ready to fall off the stand?
Obviously not me until I saw the photo.

Adding a Real-Life Memento to the Corner Bakery

With all of my mini projects,
I like to incorporate a few my-real-life items.

The Swiss clock -- a little reminder of my year living in Switzerland as a nanny.

The house number -- eight is significant to our family.

For the Pink Beach Cottage I made stepping stones with the birth dates of our kiddos.

I was trying to thing outside the box for the bakery.
 I finally thought of the perfect idea!

A mini fairy door for the minis --
 It had to be bakery themed...which was easy...
because in real life WE have a cupcake fairy door over our pantry!

This is the door above our pantry.
I took a photo of it and reduced it to something minuscule -- like 3%.
So happy with this little my-real-life addition to the corner bakery!

Fairy Party

This came in the mail a few days ago --
I didn't even know that my fairy party was due out this publication.
{I usually set my magazines aside for a quiet night of reading --
but little Miss Annie found the article and showed it to me!}

Fun surprise!

Cheers to fairy parties and crafting with Kiddos!

Summer Minis!

I always think that summer is going to be 'my time to get a ton done'...
Then I realize that summer is pretty busy,
and I just need to wait until the kiddos are back in school to
get everything under control again.

Then all the holidays come,
and I think I'll get things done in January.
Which usually happens...but not always.

So here we are --

Projects for July/August:
Order potted flowers kit --
Find 3-4 different styles of watering cans --
Pick colors for the floral shop --
Organize floral items found in NYC and Etsy --
Find a few flower tutorials --

I'm currently starting prep work for the floral shop!
I'll post some photos soon --
{I've had sooooo much fun gathering little kits, supplies, and minis.}

Welcome

Construction is almost complete --
just waiting on the front door hardware & the window glass.
{Actually, that isn't entirely true...
This bakery has been done since early this year,
but I've been waiting for it to be featured in
Miniature Collector before I shared it on the blog.}

Free samples are in the shoppe.

Minis make me sooooo happy!
