Goodbye 2017 -- Minis Making Miniatures

The Craft Cottage is filled with all of the crafts that I love to do.

Of course there had to be a dollhouse/miniature area for the minis to make miniatures.

I wish I was better at photographing my minis --

Looking down into the shoppe --

I decided to paint the gumball machine gold...it was originally red.

So fun to see all of the little treats I've collected and made all in one place.

Looking inside --

Lots of my mini cakes and treats are from Little Things By Anna.

She makes beautiful minis.

I've also added a few treasures from Baking in Miniature -- another lovely mini shoppe.

And a darling Valentine's Day set from Kim Saulter {It's a Miniature Life }.

Things  have come together -- 

At the time of this photo, I was still waiting on hardware, 

a cash register, and cake boxes for the shelves.

Not pictured in this photo is the doormat I made.

It was actually looking at this photo for the first time that make me think --

"It needs a door mat."

I love this photo --

Proud of my hardwood floor and the way the wall papers turned out.

Any other things I need to include?
Maybe a little mini rug?
Maybe a few more items for the green shelves?
Window treatments?

The best thing about minis -- a project never has to be finished...
always adding, subtracting, and tweaking.

Little Things

After the shell of the bakery was completed, I started to work on the shelves.

I stained them a little and added a neutral paper to the back walls of the cases.

It was so much fun to pull out the little items I had been accumulating over the past few years.

I started working on minis when we moved to our new home...{it has been over 6 years now}.

Some of my favorites:

 tiny things from my Squint Box subscription,

Baking in Miniature Etsy (tiny bakery tissue, cone boxes, and books)

and the little pink blender.

I started experimenting with making plates again in January.

Such a fun, easy miniature project -- and perfect for me.

{I have a 'healthy' obsession with dinnerware.}

Through the Window

Eat more cake -- always.

Things are starting to take shape!

I always love seeing which photos they pick for the articles.

Inside the Corner Bakery on a Sunnier Day

The natural light was so beautiful the day I was taking photos for Miniature Collector.
After several winter days filled with snow and dark skies,
it was nice to have some sun.

This project is probably my favorite to date.

This little bakery is making me feel the need to be domestic today!

Bakery Facade Brick

I had so much fun with the red bricks, 

I decided to add brick to the front of the bakery as well.

Soon I'll be able to show you around inside, 

but for now here is a little look at one of the bay windows.

This shoppe was inspired by a couple of places that I saw in London in May of 2016.

I loved the color of Fortnum & Mason's ground level exterior -- 

the contrast with the red bricks on the upper levels was gorgeous.

Since my store is one level, I made the side walls red -- 

my attempt to duplicate the colors of Fortnum & Mason.

Painted bricks in light shades {another detail in London that I LOVED}

inspired the white bricks under the bay windows.

Now for the precariously perched cake --

What is happening?

So funny that sometimes I'm taking pictures and I have no idea 

what I'm taking pictures of --

who knew this cake was about ready to fall off the stand? 

Obviously not me until I saw the photo.
